GENDER EQUALITY

In every village, school, and city of Bangladesh, girls and women hold untapped potential. At Serene Planet, we believe gender equality is not just a goal—it’s a necessity for national development, educational progress, and social justice.

We focus on empowering young girls and women to rise as leaders, decision-makers, and agents of change—through education, health, and community leadership.

GENDER EQUALITY EDUCATION IN BANGLADESH

Why Gender Equality Still Matters in Bangladesh

  • Over half of the population are women, yet many are still underrepresented in leadership and public life

  • Many girls face barriers to secondary and higher education

  • Gender-based violence, child marriage, and poor access to menstrual hygiene still affect countless communities

  • Cultural silence around women’s rights and empowerment limits growth and opportunity

We believe that creating equitable, safe, and inclusive communities for girls and women leads to stronger, more resilient societies.

Our Core Initiatives

Gender Justice Workshops

We conduct interactive workshops with school and college students to:

  • Build awareness around women’s rights and gender justice

  • Encourage respectful relationships and reduce gender-based discrimination

  • Create safe spaces for girls to share their stories and build leadership skills

These sessions focus on education, empathy, and empowerment.

Girl-Led Leadership Clubs

We support the formation of student-led clubs where girls:

  • Learn public speaking, negotiation, and leadership skills

  • Design school and community campaigns around gender rights and safety

  • Participate in dialogues with local leaders and education authorities

These clubs help girls lead with confidence and purpose.

Menstrual Health & Hygiene (MHH) Campaigns

To reduce school absenteeism and improve well-being, we:

  • Distribute reusable sanitary kits and hold hygiene sessions

  • Train peer educators to break taboos and encourage dialogue

  • Improve toilet and sanitation facilities in schools for girls

We believe dignity and health go hand in hand with education.

Gender-Responsive Skills Training

We provide practical training for adolescent girls and young women in:

  • Digital literacy, computer skills, and freelancing basics

  • Leadership development and communication skills

  • Basic financial education and job readiness

This helps them become confident, capable, and economically independent.

Our Approach to Gender Equality

We empower young people to be leaders of change, starting in their schools and communities.

We believe that access to knowledge, health, and leadership transforms girls’ lives and entire communities.

Our initiatives align with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and the Bangladesh National Women Development Policy.

Equality Begins with Opportunity

At Serene Planet, we believe when girls rise, entire communities rise. Our mission is to support girls and women to claim their rights, reach their potential, and lead the way to a more just and equal Bangladesh.
